Created by Mariam Adeniran, the brand is inspired by her experiences, memories, moments and favourite things, with a hint of her Nigerian heritage. She was inspired to start this brand in the summer of 2020 with the first collection “Summer Picnic.” She wanted to portray black femininity, which society tries to take away by labelling black women with stereotypes that can sometimes be harmful. The collection emphasises a soft, feminine aesthetic that isn't commonly associated or ever involving of black women and so she made a few colourful dresses, called her friends and had a photoshoot; that's how the brand was born.
At M.Ade Collection, our clothes have meaning and intention just as with anything you do in life, there is a purpose; whether it's to look good, emphasise a perspective, create a new identity, express an emotion or feeling, what you wear can convey all of that and allow you to embody that moment or feeling.
